Soloist

Vocal Director

For over 15 years, David directed voices in numerous capacities. He created and lead several ensembles, held vocal faculty positions at colleges, held committee and guest positions for workshop and panels, developed countless voice one-to-one.

As a soloist on-stage, David’s favorite highlights include Leonard Bernstein’s Mass with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel and with Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival and Louis Langrée at David Geffen Hall; Eric Whitacre’s The Gift of the Magi as Jim with DCINY at Carnegie Hall and in its world premiere with the Los Angeles Master Chorale at Walt Disney Concert Hall; Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande with The Cleveland Orchestra and Franz Welser-Möst and Yuval Sharon at Severance Hall; Guerrerio’s ¡Figaro! (90210) Off-Broadway twice and in its world premiere with LA Opera; and as Héctor in Germaine Franco’s “Un Poco Loco” from Disney’s Coco with the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Neighborhood Music School, Germaine on percussion, and her original band from the movie in a Gala honoring the her at Waly Disney Concert Hall. He lived and traveled with Schubert's Winterreise for years performing it in Paris, New Orleans, Pasadena, Los Angeles, and in a choreographed version with Luminario Ballet. He premiered Shawn Kirchner’s Songs of Ascent as King David/Narrator and Diana Syrse’s “Alas de noche” both with the LA Master Chorale, Guerrerio’s OC Fan Tutte with Salastina, and Louis Andriessen’s Theatre of the World and Annie Gosfield/Yuval Sharon’s War of the Worlds both with the LA Philharmonic.

His style ranges from crooning boleros and Cole Porter, overtone singing in Stockhausen’s Stimmung, a bunch of Incubus and Jamiroquai in the car, or feeling at home learning Filipino Kundiman from his Lolo/Grandpa.
